I went for a two days training in Jaipur. The agenda was Passion at work... It seems that after the financial year end, post distribution of booties amongst employees, after one year of toil and hard work, The employees have lost all the passion towards work..(No need to tell why.. Thanks to Mr. Ram Kumar, the chief HR manager of ICICI bank.)
As usual we had training in ILC Jaipur. training was conducted by Mr. .........., an IIT and IIM-C grad. with more that 30 years of experience. The content of programme was very good from individual development perspective though it had strategic importance from HR vantage point as it intended to convince and justify the poor rating given to employees. The training was very engaging we completed 4-5 group activities which were very useful and pertinent to the context of training.
we were told what the passion is actually: they say that passion is a triangle and three vertices being setting high standards, never give up attitude, and giving 100%.
during one of the activities we were asked to make a painting, I made a cut-out out of sheet of paper depicting a rock climber, climbing an steep cliff. The piece turned out to be wonderful.
the session was ended with the movie Goal (Football movie). The movie was amazing. I will be writing more about it and updating it later on.. I have to sleep now as it is 0141 hrs.

My First Half Marathon
28th Oct was the day for which I waited for so long. Though I planned to run Half marathon almost six months ago but the plan remained plan only. suddenly one month ago I realised that I would have to train myself otherwise I will not be able to run successfully. It was 6th Sep that I realised that Its high time that I would have to run and reach to the level of continuous running for 15 km.
I made my regimen for running I divided it into two phases ie. pre eid and post eid. before eid as we all know that its period of one month fasting. While planning I was determined that I would be able to run while keeping fast. Actually , during the entire period of my fasting I did not run I did not train my self.
I normally run on the treadmill of my office's gym. During the period of Ramadan I use to come early from office to break the fast and so i skipped my gymming. After hogging and that too when you are empty stmoach for more than 14 hours you feel like sleeping, its sure for me.
A subtle feeling of guilt crept into me, so I thought to have long walk schedule for at least the rest of days of fasting. I started walking for 2-3 hours and Vishnu accompanied me. We use to walk start our walking at 2000 hrs. and use to reach home only aftre mid night.
For Eid I had to go to Varanasi. I left for Varanasi on 12th of Oct. My visit to Varanasi can be summed as a hogging stint for me. I put on another 2Kgs. and also I fell sick as I suffered from viral fever. i got back to Delhi on 17th.
Practicaly I was left with only 10 more days to prepare and my entire one and a half month plan of running was a big flop as it was hardly executed.
I ran for 4 days and during these four days I ran maximum of 10 Km. I was worried whether I would be able to run or not but I was determined.
on 27th Oct I went to take my bib no. and other information for running. It was a huge gathering in ansal plaza where vodaphone half marathon put up various stalls. I had to wait in que for long time for my turn to come, I chatted with people around enquiring about there timing and past running experience. Finally I got my chest no. it was 6478.
I knew I had to stuff my self with lots of carbs and boiled potatoes was the best option. I got some potatoes boiled and gulped them at night. I tried to sleep early that night but as usual I managed to sleep only after one at night.
I got up at 5 in the morning got ready and was out on road to find an auto to drop me at Bhika Ji kama place. I reached Nehru park at 7 am . People were present there in thousands. media coverage was amazing, there were two helicopters one for security and another for areal coverage. the race started at 7:45 am. I was accompanied by Gaurav Varshney and Tarun fro ICICI bank all others who were supposed to be there to represent team ICICI were absconding, may be there were in there bed enjoying the Sunday morning sleep.
There were people all around to cheer and encourage us even sexy cheer leaders were also there to glam the entire event. The sight all around was spectacular. I ran on the road, that I had experienced on my bike only till now. The feeling was amazing. People were encouraging each other. I saw many old people around 65 plus running neck to neck with me. I even saw an uncle of age 75 participating in the marathon.
The arrangement form sponsors was amazing. after every kilometer there water booth and electral powder available. Running I saw Safdarjung airport, Ashoka road , Lush green prithvi raj Road, India gate , Presidents house, Hotel Le Meridian.
I completed my half marathon in 2 hours 38 mins. The feeling of successful completion of half Marathon was a great satisfaction and proud. I don't know anyone in my acquaintance who have completed half marathon. This January i am planning to participate in Mumbai marathon and complete half marathon in 2 hours time in 2008 halj marathon.
I read somewhere "If you want to win, run 100 mtrs and if u want to experience, make a marathon."
I have experienced half of it and its true............
